The Wedding Day
We know that your wedding will be the most important day of your life and we would be honoured to be a part of it. Having live music always adds a touch of class and our experience playing at weddings is second to none. Our most popular lineup for weddings is the 7 piece band featuring female lead vocalist, rhythm section and brass duo. Listen to our demo to hear what we sound like.
Weddings have a wide range of ages with guests enjoying different styles of music. Our extensive repertoire means that we can cater for all your guests whether they are 8 or 80! We know exactly what songs will work at the right time so just leave it to us and we will judge the mood as we play and get everyone up dancing.
We'll learn your first dance
Many couples wish to open the dancing with their chosen first dance. We are very happy to learn and play this even if it doesn't appear in our repertoire list. We have both male and female vocalists so almost any song is possible. Let us know the song as early as you can so to give us time to learn it.
Generally at weddings we play 3 x 45 minute sets. We normally start our set with your chosen first dance and then play a mix of Jazz classics. You can expect to hear songs such as Summertime, My Baby Just Cares For Me, Moondance, Perfect and Come Fly With Me. We then pick up the pace playing Soul, Motown and Disco favourites such as Lovely Day (Bill Withers), I Heard it Through the Grapevine (Marvin Gaye), Superstition (Stevie Wonder) and Stuck in the middle (Stealers Wheel). Our 2nd and 3rd sets will normally be be a collection of party favourites featuring songs like 9 to 5 (Dolly Parton), I Saw Her Standing There (Beatles), Billie Jean (Michael Jackson), Ain't Nobody (Chaka Kahn), Can't Take My Eyes Off You (Andy Willimas) and Time of My Life (from Dirt Dancing). We will also mix the set up with the odd ballad so your guests have a chance for a slow dance. This is just a mere taster of the songs we may play. Check out our song list for more details.
In between our sets we will play pre-mixed music for dancing from our iPod to keep your dance floor filled and save you money on hiring a separate DJ. If you would prefer to have a separate DJ who will play in between our sets and be able to take requests then please let us know as we can provide this for an extra fee.
Early setup
Many of our clients like us to be fully set up before their guests enter the room for the wedding breakfast. We are very happy to do this for an extra fee. There are many benefits to this:
- The band can start immediatly after dinner/speeches
- Adds to the character of the room to see a live band already set up and glowing lights on the stage
- Use of a radio microphone and our PA for the speeches is included in this extra fee

In many venues it's not possible to have the band setup early as the space is needed for tables. After dinner and speeches these tables can be packed away to facilitate space for the evening band. Your guests can then have a short break whilst we set up. Set up time is approximately 40 minutes depending on the lineup booked.
Music in the ceremony
We can also play live music during your wedding ceremony. This would include a favourite or appropriate song for the entrance of the bride, music during the signing of the register and a particular favourite for the bridal party exit. We will also play background music before the service as your guests arrive. Normally, we use a simpler PA system so that we can position ourselves out of the way and into a small space. Depending on your requirements the band will be smaller than the evening party band - piano, acoustic bass and percusssion plus vocals if required.
